Peter James Martin is an author who dwells in the area known as Teesside in the North East of England. If you don't know where that is then clearly you've never had to go there, so count your lucky stars.

PJM is best known for his Brennan and Riz series, which is only known for being the only series brave enough to have a talking rat as a main character, and be set in Teesside. To quell the rumors, no the characters aren't based off any living people, and yes, Riz is a total diva.

If talking rats aren't your cup of tea then he has many other stories that may suit your liking, as long as that liking is giant robots, or stories about demon hunters.

One day he may finally write that fantasy story he keeps threatening to do...

“Dresden in Teesside – fun and funny – a solid five on the tentacle scale!”

No courier job too small, no pest control problem too big. Strange goings on? Customers getting spooked? Paranormal crime gone unsolved? You need Brennan and Riz on the case.

Ever wonder what Fae creatures, ghosts and goblins inhabit our abandoned buildings, riversides and hills, even lurking in the tunnels beneath our high streets? They’re not all troublesome and most jobs pay well… but for paranormal detective and other-worldly trouble-shooter Brennan and his best friend Riz, a talking rat with a penchant for Rune magic, a greater, darker danger is never far behind.

Based on real folklore and real locations, combined with witty characters and a dry dynamic between Brennan and Riz, this collection of short stories from Peter James Martin is packed with the familiar and the unusual.

We tasked a talented global writing community to produce their best work. We provided them with 37 challenging prompts. We gave them a strict 280 character limit.

From thousands of entries, we selected just 365.

What can be achieved with just 280 characters? On these pages you will feel the fabric of love and depths of loss, you will explore mortality and ponder what it truly means to be alive, you will find poetry, prose, wonder, despair, humour and courage.

Most of all you will find exceptional thought-provoking authors who are pushing their form to the very limits and beyond.

All royalties of this anthology go directly to a children's literacy charity.
